What it means to be ‘Australian’ is constantly evolving and our arts industry and arts practice need to reflect this in our theatres, concerts, galleries, films and media.
GROUNDSWELL: Creative Thinkers, Creative Solutions is an arts sector-driven collective founded in 2010 to foster the ongoing dialogue, promotion, advocacy and development of cultural diversity within Australian arts and media.
This year, Groundswell presents MULTICULTURAL ARTS FORUM 2012 a space for inclusive dialogue and networking for artists, arts workers, researchers and cultural policy decision-makers of all backgrounds to take action in constructive discourse on how we can benefit from the enormous untapped cultural resources of Australia’s most culturally diverse state, NSW.
Under four umbrella topics: Industry Development, Presentation Platforms & Diverse Programming, Audience Development and Arts Practice the forum will provide an opportunity to analyse, discuss and face the challenges with real solutions for artists, arts workers and organisations in NSW.
Keynote speakers and panelists include; Pino Migliorino, Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia; Jonathan Bielski, Executive Producer, Sydney Opera House Presents; Lisa Havilah, Director, Carriageworks, as well as representatives from Arts NSW, Playwriting Australia, Powerhouse Youth Theatre, SBS, BEMAC, Macquarie University and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trading.
The structure of the forum has been designed to give attendees different options to express their thoughts and experiences and included is a showcase event of live performance and film.
This is a great opportunity to come together to decide upon actions that will change the future of NSW multicultural arts firmly forever.
